A piece of me - with a part from you.

Where do I start?...  well, why not start at the beginning.

It's an overcast day on Thursday, December 15th, 2011. I'm sitting here typing, while having finished my lunch, noting what work I have left on my desk for the day, while keeping in-mind how many days are left before the holidays. How does one start a blog anyway? Importantly enough I've discovered that it's quite basic to complete the account registration. Selecting a blog name isn't too tricky, while choosing a password was simple enough, but what do I talk about in my first online exploration? Well, let's give it a whirl.

I've discovered of late, an adoration for vintage motorcycles, and I usually have many questions that can be answered through diligent online research, and through sources I've had the luck with making acquaintance. The questions certainly come very easy. It's the answers that can be tricky, or the multiple answers and separating what is correct from what is not, which tend to lead me on interesting journeys. What is a puzzle if it's all made for you, already complete in a box? No, the fun is in the hunt.

An example: my search for a part ... a bracket, that will allow me to transfer a newer brake caliper onto an older set of motorcycle forks. The bike brand remains the same. Wheels, rotors, the same. How do I figure this puzzle out? The answer is to join a forum of like-minded individuals, who began from their own humble beginnings but are surrounded by a sprinkling of folks (more educated members) some of whom have been working on solutions, modifications relative to these newbie questions of mine - for years. So I joined a motorcycle forum to gain perspective, and educate myself on parts.

Fast forward to the bracket. I've honestly been procrastinating against using the search engine on the motorcycle forum, for lack of a better explanation... that it would be like looking through a card-file at the local library. I decided to throw fear out the window and dive in. At first, I found many answers that didn't relate directly to the solution I was searching for, yet I was hopeful to find something in the end.

The bracket design that I eventually found was exactly what I had hoped to find. It came with clear images, concise instruction, and well engineered drawings that were scanned in for public display. It's the same way that I would have laid it out in a public forum, to help folks understand, using the "KISS" method (keep it simple stupid).

Here is where I find myself stuck in my first blog - the "how to attach images", because I clearly want to show you the information that I found online, as an answer to my question on parts...  as a way to finish the story. (crossing fingers).

How do I finish my first blog? I suppose I could say - "see you next time!" ... OR  "until next we blog again!" ... but perhaps it might be best to wrap this up by saying how much I've enjoyed sharing a piece of me - with a part from you.
